I need some help in identifying the date of this fish knife. As evident in the pictures, it is marked CHRISTOFLE and also has the Christofle scales mark. I know this mark was evident in a square form from 1862-1877, however the mark was then surrounded within the square in an oval shape. I also found on this forum, an example of the square mark from 1890 - registered in Vienna. Other silver items that I have, all have a number in the middle of the scales, indicating the degree of silver plate. This mark does not have this number.

I am very new to investigating silver marks, so I hope I have described my question well enough.

Would appreciate any help you can give me.

Thanks.

Hello, Christofle used various marks on its flatware over the decades. I have seen marks like these on pieces in art nouveau style, produced ca. 1900 onwards. I do not doubt that Christofle used these marks well into the 20ieth century and I would date your pieces ca. 1900-1920ies, possibly even later. Regards, Bahner
