Monogram letter identification

Hi, I am hoping some one here can help identify this letter. This may be a gift that hinges on whether or not this is the letter I am hoping it is.

Well VN is partly what I see in it. I was thinking, hoping it was possibly just an N. All opinions welcome, i can get it and just say its probably an N and every one would be happy but it helps to get some ideas.

I see starts and stops for three letters...possibly VLV, VVL, and less likely VLP. I think we can forget both Napoleon and Vivian Vance though.
