First Post- Unknown Combination, Glasgow?

Hi,

I just picked up the nice sgian dhu here in Canada, and I am having a bit of a time figuring out the markings. The rampant lion I take to be Glasgow but what's with the castle? Can anyone figure this one out?

Hi Bob,

Welcome to the Forum.

Nothing to do with Glasgow, that office has been closed since 1964. Your Sgian Dhu is much more recent, it was made by Alistair Fraser Campbell and assayed at Edinburgh in 2011. The Castle is the mark of the Edinburgh Assay Office.

Thanks for the quick reply. I was hoping it was 1935 (another interpretation of the marks, but obviously wrong). Still a nice blade.
