mystery object

hi, can anyone shed any light on what this silver object was used for, the lid on the top slides and 2 holes match up, no other opening on the silver container, there is something inside and the object has a light rattle when shaken. it is 6cms in height and 5cms width and there are no hallmarks but does test silver, thanks
