His name , spelt “Bukett” in the marks register, but “Bockett” in the PR1773 was actually “Beckett”. He was sword cutler and belt maker to George III.
18 September 1767
The will of John Beckett, Sword Cutler of Saint James, Middlesex was proved at PCC (TNA/ PROB 11/932/181).

His distinctive IB mark has often been confused with that of John Booth (not in Grimwade ) whose son and successor was another John Booth (Grimwade p.445)

Walter Beckett, a sword-hilt maker, of 4, Froggery, Birmingham, recorded in Birmingham directory of 1777 is perhaps to be identified with the above?
