Hello everyone
I found this bowl which I think is German or neighbors, because of the number 13. It also bears a mark used in the Kingdom of Sardinia between 1824 and 1872 on silver items coming from abroad.

What I would like to know is what exactly this object was for.
it's too big to be a sugar bowl and too small to be a tureen.

A very big sugar bowl ! The presentoir dish has a diameter of 19 cm !!

My vote also goes to a sugar bowl. Tea services were quite large and imposing at the time, so this would not have been out of proportion to the rest of the pieces. If the interior is gilt, then a compote for fruit, or a jam dish could be a possibility.

Well, I take note and, until proven otherwise, I will consider it a sugar bowl, although I have not found similar examples on the web.
The whole object was gilded once, inside and outside; today the gilding is worn out in many parts.

As I said in the initial post, the sugar bowl also has a mark used in the Kingdom of Sardinia for objects coming from abroad.
Could it be that this bowl was produced for the Italian market and therefore lacking German hallmark ??

Dear amena!
A met this mark a lot of time in Hungary, so probably they worked a lot for export not only Austria-Hungary, but for Italy too.
Or some other regions too.

There are many similar examples on the Internet, especially Piedmontese.

Is one of my favourites silver (and not only) item.
Pretty rare.
Not ever easy to distinguish it from a big sugar cup with plate.
Easier if it is made in porcelain (very very rare).
