I'm guessing the townmark on this piece is Moscow and the makers mark is a complete mystery to me, so any help with identification will be very much appreciated.

In my mind suspicious hallmark. It should look like this but with delta for Moscow:

Could measure the length of the frame?

Thank you for your comment. The piece is 25 centimeters or 10 inches long.

I meant the measures of the hallmark not the piece.

Hi,
Qrt.S is right about the kokoshnik being suspicious;is it female head at all ? Besides, numeral 8 is much bigger than numeral 4.
Sharp image of real kokoshnik is given by Qrt.S to compare with.It is very precise and detailed mark.
Regards

The best I can measure is between 3 and 4 centimeters for the hallmark.

3-4 cm is too big for kokoshnik, but on the other hand allows perfect close up of the mark to see details.
Can you do it,please ?

I will try. Unfortunately, even with magnification the mark is not good.

Yes, the mark is not good, but it has some measures anyway, The official ones are 6x3 millimeter! (very unlike) But 4x2mm is the common size and I mean 4x2. If it is something else, you know what it is.

Should not the handle be hallmarked since law required each separate piece of a silver object to be fully hallmarked? :::
The handle must have originally been a separate piece which was then joined to the shaft of the scooping part? :::

In general you are right, but as from the turn of the century it was not anymore mandatory to mark all detachable parts, some master continued with marking all parts others didn't. This hallmark was used 1908-17/26.

Thank you for all the comments. I am not able to do any better on a mark image. It's just a lousy small mark that looks like it was possibly double marked to me. The education is invaluable.

Please keep in mind that there is some "fuss" with the marking.
