Mystery S. African / Birmingham Maker?

I've recently picked up a piece that I believe to be a sporran, but can't determine what one of the marks signifies. It's a lion FACE. Not a leopard for London, or an imperial lion. Just the front face of a lion. It looks rather like the South African silver purity mark used 1948-73, but there's no U surrounding it, and the anchor of Birmingham is on the piece. I'd be interested to know if anyone recognizes the mark and what it signifies.

Hi ,

I know I'm not the poster but I just posted in another area but couldn't figure out how to include a picture with the post. I see the image button above tge reply box but it just puts [img] and doesn't let me open the camera. Am I missing something. I'm using a phone if that makes a difference. Thank you, I really appreciate it!

Sincerely,
William
