Pierced sugar bowl

Good day
I have bought this object a while back. I think it is a sugar bowl missing a lining. It is 8cm in diameter and about 6cm heigh. I think it is marked SH DC for Samuel Hayne & Dudley Cater. It is not easy to see the date letter as it is cut off. I bares the Victoria head mark and one of the date marks from between 1837 and 1855.
Any information about this object will be welcome.

I agree that it is a sugar bowl, or a sweetmeat bowl, and needs a glass liner. It's definitely a Hayne & Cater mark and the date letter is the G of 1842/43.

Thank you for your quick reply. I am thinking of getting a liner made by a local potter in town. Think it will be nice to put a little bit more history to it for the future. Cobalt blue stoneware will hopefully look nice.
