Match Safe - Fairchild & Co or Leroy C. Fairchild Co or ???

Post by dfsckl »

I have another match safe that's confounding me. This one is marked with a simple "F" in a shield, and I believe it to be made by some variation of Fairchild & Company or perhaps Leroy C. Fairchild Co, roughly in the late 1800s. There are no other markings that I can find, so I'm hoping someone knows something more about this item, particularly it's age, and more about the maker if you know it.

Would anyone think it might be a partial (third stamp only) for G. H. French & Co. of Attleboro (c.1920-35), succeeded by Ellmore?
