Hi all!
I need help with identification of marks on the very similar spoons. What country? What age? Who are makers?
I'm at a loss...
Many thanks in advance.

Hi
I am currently away from my books, so just a first shot:
The spoon on the top is Swiss, ETTINER is Vettiner, the mark of Antoine-Charles Vettiner, 1818-1866, from Geneva.
JJ is an early Jezler (Schaffhausen) mark, here probably only as a retailer. Date them around 1850 to 1860.
More to follow.
Regards, Jörg

Hello Jörg!
Thank you for your quick reply!
And what does the "3me" in the lozegne and in the square mean? Is it the fineness of silver?
Regards. Alex.

Yes, 3rd standard, 0.800 Silver. As I wrote, I follow up later when I have access to the books.

So, both spoons are from Geneva. The spoon with PA makers mark is from Paul Aberle, 1825-1888, in Geneva since 1847.
On the 3eme mark: Geneva was one of the few Swiss towns with a system to control the fineness of silver alloys used. The marking system from 1815 to 1881 was as follows:
1st standard (950) an eagle head
2nd standard (875) a horse head
3rd standard (800) a lions head.
However, also common was just the makers initials with the standard use. This is the case for your two spoons.
