there is a silver mark crab and butterfly. crab is north france. butterfly and the makers mark FC. 1 can't find. Who can help. Best regards

You have the crab silver standard mark for smalls. The butterfly is a guarantee mark for smalls used in the First Division from 1819-1838. There should be an identification of the tax bureau in the middle of the butterfly’s wings, but your image is too blurry on my monitor to make it out. If you could sharpen the image, we could see the symbol for the town where your item was made. The third mark in a lozenge-shaped reserve is the maker. Unfortunately, I don’t have references for Northern France.
Therefore all required marks are in place. You know the item was made of at least 800 standard silver in Northern France from 1819-1838. Who made your item remains to discover.

Given the date and location, and that the mark is on a pair of eyeglasses, I am reasonably confident that your piece is by a member of the Cozette dynasty of spectacle makers in Songeons, which is only about 25km from Beauvais and whose silver manufacturers were under the jurisdiction of the Beauvais assay office at the time. There were many members of this family who were making eyeglasses from 1680 to 1935. (See here: Les Cozette, une dynastie de lunetiers-opticiens à Songeons) Amand Fructueux Cozette (6 Jan 1783-14 Jan 1856) is a possible candidate; he was listed in as a maker of spectacles in gold and silver, among other materials.
