Hello
I have tried to research these Russian silver marks but am coming up blank apart from it is 960 silver. I'm assuming this is costume jewellery. Could anybody identify these marks for me please?
Apologies but I'm having trouble uploading a photo but the marks are:
A star with a hammer and sickle inside with a dash at the bottom left corner followed by 960
An anchor with what looks like a number 4 and then :
Thank you.

I hope these images are ok?
I am assuming this is costume jewellery but it's the 960 that is throwing me (as opposed to 925 that is commonly seen on costume jewellery - although I'm not sure if that's the same for Russian silver).

Hi,
It is Soviet silver fineness 960, which was legal standard (96% silver in the alloy). To the left of the star there is town (region) code, letter Л (I think) for Leningrad (Petersburg).
The mark on the left is combination of date code followed by the maker`s initials I cannot identify.
In 1990-1999 the last digit of the year is indicated with two vertical dots in front of it,located in front of the manufacturer's code.
В 1990— 1999 гг. последняя цифра года указывается с двумя вертикальными точками перед ней; располагается перед шифром предприятия-изготовителя.

Meaning, your egg pendant was made in 1994.
If costume jewelry is defined as inexpensive jewelry made of non precious metals, this egg pendant does not fit the definition, because it is made of high purity silver. The quality of enamel is another story, though; not very good.

The maker is
Russian Gem Factory in Petersburg.
Завод русские Самоцветы
This is better image of their mark, same year, and the only difference is 925 standard.
Now that you know what to look for, search your marks under 10X loupe and you will see exactly these marks.
