It is more or less typical German Art Nouveau (Jugendstil): female head with vertical lines and pellets combined with elements of previous styles: leaves, gadroons, wreaths etc.
Made around 1900 or a bit later.

Is there a glass insert? If not, the object is rather useless. To find a replacing insert is close to mission impossible!

Beautiful piece of silver, google search silver jardenier
https://www.google.com/search?source=un ... 7&dpr=1.25
I ordered locally at an artist glassblower cum artelier replacements glass liners for a pair of open salt cellars. It is worth trying

In the Uk for example

Good luck and enjoy your silver jardenier.
Peter.

Thank you Peter, that’s a great idea and extremely helpful. I think I will do the same and add the glass inner myself.
With best wishes,
James
