Do these marks mean sterling?

The seller says this is plated, but looking at these marks, they look sterling. If I'm reading them correctly, they say Sterling, London, 1897. But before I commit to purchasing it in a few hours, I wanted to run this by the experts. Thanks in advance!

Great, thank you! I made the purchase earlier. It's the second piece of English sterling I own now. Well, when I receive it, anyways. Cheers!
