This stick is about 30" long with a silver orb on one end and a silver ferrule on the other, viz:

It is inscribed with the name of an officer, one Major E.S. Clark of the 5th Brigade RWF

The marks are shown in the photos. I repeated one set that appears on both the head and the ferrule.

I would like to get an idea as to the date which will make tracking down of the good Major easier but any insights would be appreciate.
Thank you.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Both of the hallmarks are London sterling silver marks with the date letter "n" for the assay year 1908/09. EHW is Edwin Henry Watts and the other mark, WS..o, may be Wilkinson Sword Co, but without a complete mark I cannot be certain.

Thank you so much. The inscription and the dating helped the fine folks over at the GreatWarForum to id the gentleman in question in a couple of hours. If you are interested, here is the link to the thread

I used to do similar research back in the day. This would have taken weeks/months. Amazing.

Thanks again.
