Hello All - I was wondering if anyone would have some tips on how to clean this badly tarnished pot. Believe it or not, I have already spent over an hour polishing it w/your basic over-the-counter, drugstore polish/tarnish remover. All that really came clean was the lid. I do appreciate any help and do wish all of you a HAPPY HOLIDAY. Kim

I am guessing your teapot was silver plated with the plating all but worn away, replating may be the only answer.
Trev.

Yes, think Trev is correct, it looks like it is plated Britannia metal, similar to pewter and used as a silverplate base metal. Virtually impossible to hand polish to brightness if the plating is worn through.

You may have a "Satin" silverplated finish on your piece . Satin finishes never did shine !

Provide complete description of the markings so we can determine if you have pewter , white metal , nickel silver base metals and if your piece was crafted with a "satin" option on the silverplate.
