This fork looks like Scandinavian to me, but I couldn't find a clue even after heavy search in google. What is the brand/origin of it? is the 40 indicates contents of silver? and date of making, it seems antique and monogrammed. Thank you very much.

Your fork is silver plated. The silver layer is extremely thin. The figure 40 indicates that 40 gram silver has been used when 12+12 items (cutlery) were plated (electronically). Marks on silver plated objects have no standard making it difficult to place. The mark is unfamiliar to me, sorry.

Thank you. This is new to me that 40 could indicate quantity of silver used in plating.

Norwegian pattern known as "Flat Rose"....origin is alluded to here: viewtopic.php?f=47&t=37788&p=102024&hil ... eb#p102024

It can be found as silver or silver plate. Magnus Aase mark can be found with the 40 grade as well as a lone capital "P" above (which I presume is being used to represent Plett for plate). Other makers marks seem to exist in addition. Someone may know who CFH is?

Don't want to jump to any conclusion here, but this does look like the conjoined letters CFH of a German based firm listed here: viewtopic.php?f=38&t=33091&p=120386&hil ... eb#p120386

P.S. Not the porcelain/china making concern of similar last name.
