Yes I have searched - Trust me! The nearest I could find was Samuel Wilmot making it pre 1860 but I am not convinced - Anyone who helps gets a free hug!

Hi,

An image of the whole item may be useful.

Hi,
There were several Wilmots in America.
See here:

It is probably older than you thought, but the image of the whole item (coin purse) is needed.

Regards

Sorry Guys and Gals - I thought I knew what I was doing - But I have never had to list photo's this way before - Should have done what they said and read the rules and instructions first - My bad! Sorry for wasting some of your time. I think I got it now but can't see how to erase posts and start over? I'm old give me a break! To be fair though the how to add an image could use an update - Tinypic??? Not complaining, someone spent a lot of time on it!

Hi,
The purse was attached to chatelaine or worn on finger.
For chatelaines see here:
(admin edit - see Posting Requirements )
They were popular throughout Victorian period, even later but before WW II.

"Wilmot" was the retailer of the piece, not the manufacturer. There were numerous of that name working as jewelers and fancy goods merchants along the eastern seaboard at the turn of the 19th century and in to the 20th. Given the lettering of both marks, I would say the 1920s was likely.
