Gorham Box

Hi all, I'm new to the board and was hoping you knowledgable folks could help me identify a small box that I found several years ago.
With a little research, the marks tell me it's Gorham. I'm not sure if it's really visible in the photo, bit it's marked with the Gorham markings c. 20th century I think (between 1933 & 1941?), says STERLING and also B30 with the B distinguishing it as a dressing table or desk accessory.
I lived in Eastern Connecticut, so Gorham in RI is pretty local. The dimensions of this little box are 2.25" x 1" x about 1/2" when closed. I can't figure out for the life of me what it is. At first I thought a match safe, but there's a hole about the size of a standard pencil on the one end. Thanks for looking!!!
