Hi, I am hoping that somebody can help with the attached Hallmarks? I think the knives and forks belonged to a Scottish ancestor but I can’t seem to find anything that matches the left hand most mark in any UK country. The next date(?) mark looks like an S, the next two are fairly crude and again don’t really seem to match anything. The final makers mark - JW is nice and clear. I have seen a similar silver set online that dates from the 1820/30s but with completely different (and crisp clear) marks.

I hope I do disappoint you too much, but they are not hallmarks, but silver-plater's marks only.

Thanks for your input, I did wonder if they were plate but expected to see some reference to EPNS, we were more interested in the date to understand which ancestor they belonged to. The box has an initial and surname but two generations had the same first name!

These marks are possibly those of Joseph Wolstenholme, if so he started producing silver plate from 1850 up until some time in the 1860s.
