I think it may be Irish, is there any evidence of a maker's mark anywhere?

::::: The "Irish Provincial Hallmarks" illustrates the use of marks like "STERLING" and "STARLING" and sometimes just "STER" in a font similar to the font on your knife handle. :::::
::::: There might be a well-worn makers mark if you look very closely at the handle with a magnifying loupe? ::::
::::: I wonder if the steel knife blade is original & the handle is very ornate & would love to have seen a complete set of this pattern. :::::

Also the term Stirling is sometimes found on Irish provincial pieces, would you say the third letter is an I ?
