Another puzzle for me. This bible is only marked with a hallmark HL in one? On the clasp is graved 1800, I searched, but for me impossible to find the maker. So I need some help with this one. Thanks in advance!

Perhaps if you can show us an image of a clean clear mark, we can solve the puzzle.

Peter.

Hi Peter, Unfortunately is this the best result that I get. The clasp is cleaned and with the cleaning process is the hallmark a little bit damaged.
It looks to me like a HL in one, but I can be wrong. In Friesland there is only a silversmith with HL in one and a crone above, so it is not this one.

HL or HR conjoined/monogram or...? It would be guess work. I don't think it is possible to link this mark to the name of a certain silversmith.
