Hello,
I saw this barrel-shaped tumbler / mug at an antique shop in Toulon, South of France
It is quite attractive and I love the shape.
I believe it is George III, 1806, Dublin.
Can you please confirm?
I cannot make out the maker. Do you have an idea?

Thank you for your help.
Kindest regards
François

Interesting. GIven the date, 1808, one would assume it was Jeremiah D'OLier but seems to be the mark used by Isaac D'Olier (2) & (3) if you refer to Trev's detailed explanation of the D'OLier family here:
https://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewtopi ... ier#p38800
Refer also to the marks:

Jeremiah D'Olier's mark was a rectangular I D with no pellet but the mark on your silver has one. So, was Isaac D'Olier (3) still working in 1808? If alive then, he must have been in his early to mid 70s as he was apprenticed in 1747.
Trev can likely shed more light on this.

I'm sorry, but I feel I cannot add anything of note. The maker's mark is so mutilated, I would not even be surprised if it was an overstrike.
Trev.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.
It will remain a mystery

My error. Isaac would have been about 90 in 1808 if apprenticed at 14. So maybe Jeremiah used same mark or is as Trev said.
