Medaillon with miniature portrait. Brass??

Hello to everyone,

This is a miniature portrait medallion, I believe it's from the first half of the 19th century. I think it's made of brass, although I don't rule out another alloy.
A mark was stamped on it. I don't know his country of origin, although it could be Central European, Germany or Austria.
Does anyone recognize the mark? I can't obtein better images.
Thanks and greetings to you all
Jaume

Hi Jaume,

It bears a remarkable similarity to British Registry Design mark, see:

But I suspect it is only a coincidence. Maybe an imitation?

Hi Trev.,

I didn't know the mark you mentioned. It is true that it is coincidental. I see that it was also applied to metal objects, as a method of patent design registration.
But I see that it should be accompanied, logically, by the manufacturer's brand (and it is not the case)
Perhaps, as you say, it is an imitation and intended to confuse with the composition of the metal, for example.

Thanks, again.
