This silver tray was using (according the seller) for collecting money in the church. It is marked with severval hallmarks and dated.
Is there somebody who recognize the marks? Could it be Spain? I would like to thank you in advance!

Indeed collecting tray, it could be screwed on an extension stick, to reach the long bench with seating members of the congregation.

Italian, town mark of Verona, San Zeno? Perhaps Andrea can tell more.

Dear Peter
I thank you for your trust, but I'm afraid I won't be able to be of much use this time.
The mark is very incomplete and I can't see anything that directs me towards an Italian mark known to me,
On BEWEB, a website where the historical and artistic assets of the Italian Catholic Church are catalogued, no silver alms dishes appear, they are generally made of brass or other base metal, often embossed and decorated.
I believe that the engraved writing and the details of that screw that passes through the plate, quite anomalous in a alms dish, can tell us more than the so fragmentary mark
Regards
Amena

Hi Amena,

Yes, you are right, indeed alm dishes in churches are not made of silver but made of non precious metal, wood or wicker.
This dish was clearly screwed onto something and it had a completely different function.

The clear cross in the otherwise vague mark reminds me of the city hallmark of St. Nikolaus, Austria-Hungary Empire.
Let's hope that the inscription can provide more clarity

Regards,

Peter.

It's just a feeling, perhaps because it was posted by the same person who posted the Spanish tray, but something makes me lean towards a Spanish silver. Could it be that DNA stay for Doña GE..... ??

Thanks, seems written in Catalan.
Something like.
Woman Geronima Puig and Quintana of Vilahur and woman Maria Lucia Puig and Quintana of Vilahur mother and daughter given and born in 1810

Dona GERONIMA duiz de vilais ot 10 Ano 1683 or 1883, duiz de vilais translates to twelve villages or .....? An image of the complete engraved text could be helpful.
I beter leave it to Funkel our Catalan member.

Peter.
