Hi
I am not to sure what has happened to the makers mark on this 1745 marrow spoon, maybe it is just my eyes, but can anyone make out who this might be?
Many Thanks
Martin

Looks similar to GB listed here but apparently the name is unknown:

Looking at this again I suspect the initials may be EB. If so it matches a mark of Edward Bennett I, registered June 1739. He registered a later mark in 1747 so was definitely working in 1745.

Thank you both for your observations. Phil, I personally think your first assumption of GB looks closer, is there something you have seen that makes you lean more to it being Edward Bennett?

This is Grimwade's sketch of the Bennett mark which I think matches your image:

Thanks Phil. Do you think the unattributed GB on your site is also that of Bennett?

Yes, I'm now sure that it is and have prepared an amendment which will appear in my next site update (probably in the next couple of days).
