Help to know why towle silversmith has these other marks

I need help to know why tolwer silversmith has these other marks.
They are the extra marks applied to Towle's La Fayette pattern:
Towle Mfg. Co. - Newburyport, Mass. - 1916
Parker & Van Cleve, 22, Park Place, Morristown, New Jersey, would have been the retailer.
