Hi,

The lion rampant and crowned O are pseudo marks. Crowned O, imitation of a date letter, seen on brandy bowls, spoons made in Groningen. Source; K.A. citroen Valse Zilvermerken in Nederland page 41 #271.

The second image, unclear maker's mark, can you show a clear enhanced image of this mark?

Best,

Peter

Hello Peter!
Many thanks for your quick reply!
Unfortunately this bowl is not mine and I have no other images.
Can you tell me anything about the age of the bowl?
Regards. Alex.

Hi Alex,

Your welcome. The bowl to be safe, made turn 19th century. The unclear mark is VB, imitation of a maker's mark used by silversmiths in Groningen.
Peter.

Hi Peter!
Thank you very much! Do you think this bowl is quite rare or were many of them produced?
Regards. Alex.

Dear Alex, these silver brandy bowls with fake/pseudo/fantasy marks are not rare.
