Sterling Silver Antler Handled Roasting Fork With Unknown Mark

The title pretty much says it all! Recently I purchased this sterling silver roasting fork but I've been entirly, uneqivically, unable to find out who made it or what the mark on it means. Maybe you fine folks can help me out? Any clues would be greatly appreciated. A photo is encluded below, as well as an imgur link if that doesn't work.

It’s an international Silver Company mark derived IIRC from the Meriden Britannia Component. I believe it’s thought to be a Phoenix rising above the torse.

Oh that's interesting, does that mean the 27 is the year that the piece was made?

Likely to be an internal factory number for identification of pattern, stock, cataloging, etc.. Date coding wasn’t as important in general merchandising lines as it was to commercial wares that involved servicing and restocking by suppliers, and most of that was in plated wares. Sterling lines could have dating systems but they’re less common.
