Can anyone identify the maker's initials, please, and uif possible add a little detail?

Although there is no town mark I am pretty sure that this is a Sheffield mark with the date letter "o" for the assay year 1906/07. The maker's mark has been double-struck, either one mark over a different one or the same mark struck twice because of a poor first strike. I favour the latter and think that it could very well be H.V.P for H V Pithey & Co whose mark I have previously seen on a knife handle:
Note that this is still only a best guess.

Silvermakersmarks, thank you for that, the mark you've added looks exactly right, and HVP were active at that time, so it all makes sense. I'm very grateful for such a quick response.
