Silver (trouser?) button weared in Zeeland. Marked with two marks, looks like 18th century, but I am not sure. Help is appreciated..

The silver and gold guild of Schoonhoven made a lot of small traditional Zeeland silver for the Zeeland market.
The button has a impression of a coin side, the so called Ducaton or silver Rider – Res Parvæ – Crescunt 'Together the Small will Grow'

On this button we see the town mark of Schoonhoven ( four lions rampant facing left) and a partially struck year letter M, in shield with a round foot, probably for the year 1805.

Unfortunately the master mark is missing. Probably at that time several buttons made by this Schoonhoven silversmith were offered to the assay office in Schoonhoven, some of which bore his master mark and some not.

Peter.
