I recently bougth this necklace. It is hallmarked with RD Taxco and 980. I presume the 980 is for the silver content, making it near pure silver. But can anybody tell me who marked their jewellery with RD?

Thanks

Andy

Rafael Dominguez used that RD mark. You have an excellent example of his work.
He first apprenticed with his father Miguel Dominguez. Later, for a short time, joined the William Spratling workshop.

Rafael and his Canadian-born wife Jeannette, a printmaker and painter (in oil & watercolor), opened a silver and arts studio in Taxco in 1943. Rafael died in 1980.

Regards,
Pat.
