We've got this beautiful Rococo Revival coffeepot. Clearly marked "Hgr"
and the Copenhagen 3 tower mark with "51" underneath. Seems simple OK. Here's the problem. to be Hugo Grun it must be 1951 not 1851, because Grun wasn't in business in 1851 but he was in 1951.
What is puzzling us, is the style. Roccoco Revival was not a sought after pattern in 1951, it doesn't seem logical for that date and seems far more logical for 1851, the height of the revival. Could it be made in 1851 and Gruns mark added later. Appreciate any input.

It's a lovely piece, but I see no problem with the dating. It's a Rococo style teapot, made in 1951. Rococo inspired designs were popular throughout the 20th century. As an example, believe Gorham's Strasbourg pattern has been in constant production since 1897, as has the similar 1895 Chantilly (a perennial favorite). There was a strong consumer interest in Rococo style in the US from the 1940s-60s (and still exists), would guess that was also true elsewhere.

and as a dane. with access to copies of the 3 towers fra 1608 onwards untill I can confirm that it is 1951. Every year the towers were changed. So by looking at the towers you can determin what year. If you atre more skilled than me.

This is 1851 see the towers are different and in 1851 4 marks were standard.
RH is the guardein (Hinnerup), the silver smith and finally monthmark.
