Hi there

It looks like an oyster shucker, but I don't know the hallmarks.

Thanks Bob, My wife suggested it was a cake knife, but I had my doubts. The blade is about 9" long. Brett

HeHeh! Nice angle on that first picture. It's a carving knife in Watson's Meadow Rose pattern, introduced in 1907.

Oops - should have said it's American http://www.925-1000.com/american-mfg12.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Sometimes the marks on hollow-handled pieces are lightly struck, should be marked STERLING somewhere.

Thanks Cheryl, It does say Sterling on the handle and it also says weighted.
