Hi,
I can't seem to find this mark or any similar one in any of the lists. It is of course smudged, but the shape is unusual and easily recognized.
Can anyone give me an indication where I could look further?
Because of the ivory insulators I'm guessing British Empire early 20th century.

Hi,
Maybe Austro-Hungarian 1886-1922 Diana Head see World marks on Home page,
Regards Trev.

Thanks Trev,
I somehow missed that one. It seems to be the only possibility.
In the meantime I discovered another mark on the finial, which is quite similar to the other one yet it has mysterious markings to its right. They don't seem to be part of the description of the Diana Head.
Any ideas?
Here are two photos.

Hi,
It could be a worn or mis-struck makers mark, difficult to be sure,
Trev.

From looking at the marks, it appears as though the top mark (on the coffee pot) has a letter or number in the top left hand lobe, whilst the finial mark has a mark in the bottom left hand corner. Can you confirm this using a magnifying glass?

On the coffee pot it is clearly an "A" but on the filial it is not legible. On the list I was told to expect a number on the lower left of the Diana Head 3 being 800 but I can't make out any number from 1 to 4 opn the filial. It looks more like a sideways "A"

Assumptions (1) that the coffee pot has mark for former Austro-hungarian Empire 1872 - 1922 because the punch outline is lobed with a letter.
(2) If the letter is an A in top left hand lobe then the A should be for Vienna. There should be a number 1 in the lobe on the opposite side ie top right hand side. This would indicate that it was 950 silver.
For 800, as you say, there would be a 3 in the bottom left hand lobe, and the town letter should be in the bottom right hand lobe.
