First, I apologize for the scan quality...tried every manipulation to get something somewhat representative. Photo might have been better choice?

My books do not show this type of bowl...I bet you experts here will know in a half second what it is called! It's segmented/faceted. The spoon is mark 925/1000 and STERLING Pat. 1895 (I think). I apparantly can't see well enough to match the mark to any those I've researched...thought maybe the knowing the pattern would help me match it up. Thanks for all your collective
knowledge!

At the back of the book Sterling Flatware by Tere Hagan there is a reprint of an original catalogue of Towle's Old Colonial pattern with pieces pictured at actual size along with the name of each piece. It is interesting to see how many different pieces were made in a pattern and what was the use of each piece. An invaluable aid in trying to identify the funny forks, various spoons and serving pieces made in the United States at the end of the 19th and the first part of the 20th century.
