I have a large silver trophy hallmarked as made in Dublin in 1927 but cannot identify the maker. The mark is FTS&Son. Anybody got any ideas? I can't post a picture because I don't understand how the Img function works. I have a picture but not a web address for it?!?

What is the left hand mark that looks like a head?
All marks are not really clear on the screen but the year mark looks more like the 1924 letter
You say the makers mark is FTS & son, is that the bottom mark that looks like West and Son to me, who would be the maker although they also may use an additional mark

Hi thanks for your reply
You are correct it is West & Son!
The mark to the left is their Maker's Mark - W with a (badly defined) Crown above it.
As to the year the letter looks like a script L to me rather than I but I haven't found any examples of Dublin letters after 1920.

The 1924 I is a straight vertical line with a curve off to the left at the top.
The 1926 L is is not quite vertical with a hook shape curve to the right on the bottom
My computer skills are not up to copy marks from the book to the site but I am sure somebody will do this to make it clearer.

OK this is a vertical line with a bend to the left at the top so it must be the i of 1924. Many thanks for your time. The issue is fully resolved now.
