Hi
I havethis spoon it is made of what appears to be bronze/brass. it appears to be hammered. It has a line across the handle about halfway up .
any help appreciated

Well,I remember seeing it in an antiques book and can't remember the name. Seems like something like slip spoon or something.I remember they said it was a time when ordinary people could not afford a silver spoon so they made one for what they call peasants(common people).
Just can't remember the actual name. It was in a book about flatware.

Yeah, that does sound familiar and I can see why it would be called that, it would be a bit hard to hang onto. Well.. anyway, I dont think it would be made of bronze or brass for us po' folk. brb:-)

Except the stem on yours is not hexagonal, its flat which would seem to make it very weak to me. Hopefully somene on this forum will explain it to the both of us soon.

Thianks,Yes that is it.It actually is hexagonal shaped and is cut off at an angle.however below my line on the back it has no marks that I can see.
But yes maybe someone will tell us both.
