Hi all,

The thimble below is a metal detecting find; it is silver & there are no hallmarks but I'm hoping that someone might be able to identify the maker, assuming that is what the mark is. I'm guessing it is English since it was found here but ??? Best guess is that it is Georgian or Victorian.

I have zoomed in as much as I can on the mark and put the close up top middle in the picture. It is quite indistinct alas; the picture may even be the wrong way up as the second letter as is looks like an upside down B. Apologies for making you stand on your heads if it is :lol:

Very unusual mark. Would expect to find the other usual suspects (ie Lion Passant etc) on a Thimble. Clearly they are not present (nice photos btw). I'll have to confess that I'm stuck (I still think it's no English though.....)

Reminds me of a very worn uncrowned London leopard for after 1822 but the date letter (if that's what it is) following isn't a "g", the hook goes the wrong way. Very worn but yes, great photos!

is it definitely a thimble? I'm new to this so may be wrong but it looks more like a bit of silver from the end of a walking stick to me (as it doesnt have an end and looks fairly thin, etc)

Worth a bump after all these years!
