Hello my fellow silver lovers. I had the good fortune to come across this simple but nice Buccellati platter. The only marking is the "BUCCELLATI STERLING ITALY" and no purity marks. I have read on the net that the purity mark wasn't always required early in the 20th., century but I couldn't find an example of Buccellati using the mark on my platter at that time. Does anyone have a reference for their markings or know of a website that might help clear this up?

Thanks for looking and any and all feedback. Tim

Platter, just over 10" dia.

Hi,
Buccellati has had a branch in New York since the early 1950's, if the piece was made for export, there'd be no need to have it marked according to the Italian system. I suggest you contact Buccellati to get a definitive answer, can't find an email address for them, but their NY # is (212) 308-2900
