Thank you for the comments. Fortunately, there’s no sign of corrosion from salt, so I take it that the piece was well taken care of.

Don’t necessarily expect anything new, but giving this post a bump just because I’m so fond of the piece, and who knows?

From what I have recently read, gilding was also used to resist corrosion from salt. Commments in that regard or any other on this post are entirely welcome.
