S Kirk & Son Small Bowl Purpose

Post by silverly »

Looking for a good idea of the purpose of this bowl. It’s about the right size for a salt cauldron and maybe that’s what it is. Thank you in advance.

Thank you for the comments. Fortunately, there’s no sign of corrosion from salt, so I take it that the piece was well taken care of.

Don’t necessarily expect anything new, but giving this post a bump just because I’m so fond of the piece, and who knows?

From what I have recently read, gilding was also used to resist corrosion from salt. Commments in that regard or any other on this post are entirely welcome.
