Ana Nunez Brilanti, known to collectors of Mexican silver as Victoria, established a small workshop in Taxco in 1940. Much of her work is influenced by pre-Columbian art, although she also created some highly individualistic modern designs. Brilanti is credited with introducing the metales casados or married metals technique to Taxco and was a strong proponent in establishing the 1948 Eagle mark system as a guarantee of quality. In the early 1950's, her daughter and son-in-law opened the "Cony" shop that retailed her jewelry and tableware. |
