Re: Mystery Marks - Could this be Hanau?

Thanks Theo for the remark,

could you specify Marx Merzenboch please?
- since a google search shows zero results on this name,
neither on Merzenblöch or Max instead of Marx, etc ...
???

Re: Mystery Marks - Could this be Hanau?

Than you Maurice for the in-depth remarks. Yes I know what you mean... Aren't there some (or at least one) Hanau makers who also used something similar to the Augsburg mark ? - of course also to produce a wrong impression on the buyers side. But i didn't even think this would be an attempt to copy t...

Mystery Marks - Could this be Hanau?

Hello, this is one of three little bowls, apparently for salt and/or spices (?) The marks are (identical on all three) placed on the bottom of the hollow. Could anybody identify these two marks ? No additional ones to find on any of the three bowls. http://i1256.photobucket.com/albums/ii487/Labyrint...

Dear Silverport, thanks a lot, great ... - I found the Bruckmann - eagle in the german hallmark section. Now I still wonder what the E and 905 means ? and why there is a mark from Heilbronn and one by a silversmith in Bogota, Colombia ? Who would have made it and who imported or exported it (or mayb...

Hello, this tea- or coffee pot (27cm high, about 13cm in diameter) is hallmarked on the bottom (see images below). I read: "ARTURO MEDINA.L." in a crest, some more characters may be missing ... Then there is a eagle in a circle with it's head to the left, the letter "E" and "...

Thanks for your help, great ...

Another question to everybody:
Why doesn't a lot of the silver from Hanau show the German cresent moon and crown hallmarks although clearly produced after 1886.
I thought it was (and still is) a law in Germany ?

thank you

Thanks a lot jackk. That would actually make sense. I have another pot which is by Söhnlein & Söhne, very similar looking, also Hanau and they also used pseudomarks (no cresent moon and crown) but this one I could find and clearly identify in the German makers' marks after 1886 section. What l...
