Thanks Pat,
Not an antique either by the looks of things...
Maybe one for the future.
Thanks for your help.

World silver query
Hi folks, Can anyone decipher the marks on this .925 silver handled magnifying glass? The antique dealer who sold me this two montsh ago said it might be italian silver. However, from the marks shown on the site, I think it could be Swiss. Is the third hallmark a duck? Any help would be appreciated....

VRB Co silversmith help please
Hi Folks, If anyone knows who VRB Co were, I'd appreciate it. Scottish most likely given that the item is a tartan ring box. I don't think the top is silver, most probably silver plate given the lack of the usual hallmarks... Thanks in advance, Kenny http://f.imagehost.org/t/0249/7_002.jpg http://f....

French spoon ?
Hi Folks, Here's another puzzler for anyone with some spare moments to ponder. This spoon (which has been well used and bashed about a tad) looks for all the world to me to be French, but can anyone confirm this please? Thanks in anticipation... pre 1822 london silver help please
Hi Folks, So far I have worked out that this crystal glass with silver rim dates from pre 1822 (crowned leopards head and lion rampant) but I am stumped regarding the makers mark. Can anyone decipher it? Looks like 1786 year mark to me... Thanks Kenny http://g.imagehost.org/t/0867/6_004.jpg http://g...

Thanks for reply. I assumed that silver plate required hallmarks as well. The bottom of the spoon has no wear, the yellowing picked up on the first image is reflection of curtain which was caught in glazing behind where the image was previously taken - retaken images below. http://g.imagehost.org/t/...

no hallmarks on spoon guidance sought please
Hi All, Does anyone know if it is posisble for silver not to be hallmarked (i.e pre dates halmarks?) I have what appears to be an old silver spoon (a condiment spoon ?) and despite close examination there does not appear to be any hallmarks. The spoon measures 14.5 cm in length and is very light and...
