Re: Tiffany & Co.(?) Hallmarked "V in a C" Mexican
I wanted to give this thread an update for further reference. I recently discovered that the "V in a C" mark on this brooch is that of Mexican designer Victor Carranza. Carranza started producing jewelry for Tiffany in 1986. I'm not sure if he is still doing so, but I believe his early wor...

Re: Marks on water carrier pin
First things first, the mark you see in the center of this pin is the same markings it has on it's sides. If you view it where your mark picture is upside down (behind the water carrier with him standing upright) you'll see that it just says "STERLING MEXICO". That being said, the maker of...

Re: Art Deco Marcasite Bracelet - Who is CW? Real or Repro?
Beautiful marcasite sterling art deco (in design at least) bracelet signed CW. I couldn't find this signature in the database. There were a lot of marcasite deco repros in the 80s... this one may or may not be a 30s piece. I have seen the CW mark *many* times, mostly on newer jewelry and bracelets....

Re: Silver Candlesticks - What is this Mark?
Oh wow... I did not expect them to be German, and much less of that age! They're just a great example of the craftsmanship of European silver.

Re: RFI: ID of artist/studio for Modernist Multi-gem Pendant
I don't think this piece is American... 93.5% is not a common silver purity here in the states. If I were to guess I'd say it's Scandinavian since the modern jewelry there is so prevalent (Your's is wonderful!). I'm sorry I can't help you further, these artist signed pieces, even the American ones, ...

Silver Candlesticks - What is this Mark?
I was wondering if someone could help me with the origin of the marks on these candlesticks I picked up this morning. http://i880.photobucket.com/albums/ac5/Ryaan2000/Candlesticks.jpg Here they are, very ornate and repousse in style. http://i880.photobucket.com/albums/ac5/Ryaan2000/MysteryMark.jpg F...

Tiffany & Co.(?) Hallmarked "V in a C" Mexican
I purchased this large brooch from a friend of mine who sells jewelry. I think that it's just stunning and that I may not see anything of this quality again. I believe that this brooch is Tiffany & Co, although I've posted it here because it has Mexican hallmarks, which are more intriguing. http...

Re: Schnapps or Spirit tumbler, made after 1872 in Krákow
Hello Ryaan 2000 You are always in »925-1000« welcome with your questions. Your “Schnapps” or Spirit tumbler is assayed in Krákow, after 1872. Krákow was from history on a capital of Poland; but in that time, your beaker was produced, Poland was divided between Austria-Hungary, Germany and Russ...

Austro-Hungarian Cup with Mystery "SS" Mark
I bought this silver cup at a local flea market a few months ago, knowing it was some sort of European silver I've never encountered before. It turns out it's Austro-Hungarian. The lower Diana's head hallmark is either the 1867-1872 one or the 1872-1922 one (it's hard to tell). It's hallmarked "...
