Re: Maker and origin of 800 silver plateau mirror

One more question.

Since this bears an Austro-Hungary import (as opposed to export) mark, was it made somewhere else? It was suggested that the A.P. 800 is an Italian province and standard mark?

Re: Maker and origin of 800 silver plateau mirror

This is what I got photo'd with IPhone through my loupe. This seemed better than my drawing. The shape of the impressed mark is a not quite symmetrical hexagon. Thanks

Re: Maker and origin of 800 silver plateau mirror

The impressed mark to the right cannot be fully made out even with a loupe, or photo'd. The tiny cartouche has 6 sides. Inside is most likely the letter A, with flourishes. But I could be wrong.

Maker and origin of 800 silver plateau mirror

I would like to know more about the small plateau mirror, 7.5 inches diameter. It is marked A. P. 800 followed by an impressed symbol. This 6" bowl has the photo'd marking, which is: 92.5% Silver Is it plated? It is similar to the Japanese mark using "SILVER' but those I have seen are all decimals (ie: .925) Any Ideas? http://a.imagehost.org/0211/bowl_side.jpg http://h.imagehost.org/0200/bowl_marks.jpg http://j.imagehost....

European maker? for Woodward and Lothrop

http://i.imagehost.org/t/0422/086.jpg http://i.imagehost.org/t/0555/130.jpg These pre-1950 (according to Mom) goblets are quite heavy - 7 to 8 0z each, and are also marked for the store Woodward and Lothrop. I have been told that the store used various European makers for their silver. The tiny inc...
