Warsaw Candlestick Marks
I don't generally even look at Russian silver but you know how it goes. My fear of fake Russian silver comes from this forum. Anyhow, I had an opportunity to buy these for significantly less than the contained silver value. So I have looked through the Russian section and identified what appears to ...

Re: Need Help With A Star On This Tiffany Mark
The star is for domestically produced silver during WWII, the star mark was used from April 1943-1945 (according to Carpenter's Book), I think they state April 19, 1943, but I have also seen it April 7, 1943 as the start date for the star mark.

Re: Mystery 3-pronged Sterling handle
One possibility is a corn holder, I have them in 1-4 pronged versions, generally they are single pronged.

Re: No Makers Mark, what to make of other hallmarks
Yes, thanks. The piece has all the correct marks for Dublin 1823, less the makers mark. All the marks are pretty crisp, if they maker mark was in the middle it would still be there, why there is no mark and what to think or know about that is what has me interested in what others might think or know.

Have you looked at Baltimore Sterling Silver Company, this could be one of their alternate marks.

Re: Teapot Maker and Year Made?
That's the only maker I could come up with too, I suppose the makers mark could be rubbed as the top part seems absent, and of course you can't make out the G. The finial doesn't seem right to me, as if might have been a replacement. But then when you take it off you can see its is specifically made...

Re: What type of fork is this? Anyone know?
First, I want to thank everyone who has weighed in, the mystery remains unsolved. The wave edge pattern is one of Tiffany's more popular patterns (not mine), and has been around since 1884. Whereas the Burgundy pattern is from the 1940s. I would also dismiss this item as being a lemon fork based on ...

Re: What type of fork is this? Anyone know?
Thanks for the input. But these forks (set of 12) look nothing like known fish, oyster, or sardine forks in this pattern. I thought of that early on based on the scale pattern between the tines and stem. There is a lot surface area between roots of the fork and the neck of the stem or handle. The op...

French Export Marks?
I'm not familiar with these marks, I see a rooster, maybe the number 3, then in the other marks two fleur de lis marks, there are two separate markings one on the bottom and one on the edge. I see there are British import marks in the last image, that appear to be for London 1891, by the importer S....

Re: Assistance with Maker
The piece type and quality surely don't match the maker of Poole. I've never seen a piece of their silver in this quality, their goods were of low quality typically. Nothing nearly as nice as this piece. As far as Birks, the quality of the piece matches their better work, but the markings are all wr...

Re: What type of fork is this? Anyone know?
I just picked up a set of 12 of these forks, impulse buy based on the fact that I have never seen anything similar. I know the pattern, its Tiffany wave edge. Thanks for your help.

Re: Jensen USA Sugar Bowl
No matter what anyone might tell you....the USA Jensen products are NOT Jensen products, they are third tier American impostors at best. Value wise we are not supposed to discuss....but really it is like comparing a beautiful Tiffany piece from the 1870s to a Tiffany piece from Italy circa 1980....t...

Well there is zero comparison between GJ Denmark and GJ USA, the USA stuff is mostly borderline garbage in terms of value and respectability.

Look at Joseph Cook's mark, it seems to be a good match, circa 1785.

Okay, so who might the maker be? I have had dozens of 1700 century British items this is the first with the makers mark in between the hallmarks, is this a phantasy piece or real????

Salt Maker
Here is what I have, marks don't look normal, with the makers mark within the hallmarks....I suppose the maker mark could have been struck and then the item could have been hallmarked???
