Re: Can you identify a SCH.P mark please? Christie's could n

My photos are still there, but the ImageCave website seems to be malfunctioning for some reason.

It was part of lot 453 in sale 2385. I bought the lot mainly for the Klingert cigarette case and nice spoons.

Re: Can you identify a SCH.P mark please? Christie's could n

Thank you for your replies. To Qrt.S - yes, the other Kokoshnik mark which I mentioned is in the centre of the lid. To Zolotnik - with due respect to your opinion, I do not believe that a company with Christie's reputation would sell a fake. Also, it is not logical for a faker to add a maker's mark ...

Can you identify a SCH.P mark please? Christie's could not!

Hello, I recently bought some items from Christie's auction. Among them was this snuff-box or patch box, which seems to be in very good condition with nice workmanship. Christie's could not identify the maker's mark, Sch.P in Cyrillic. There is a very clear 1908 Kokoshnik mark for St Petersburg (als...

Re: Is my Faberge egg genuine?

Thanks Zolotnik. But this still leaves me with a puzzle. Why would a faker spend much time making an imitation box and an imitation egg, but then NOT add a fake Faberge hallmark? That would be the easiest and quickest part of his task. If this item was made to deceive a buyer, surely any faker would...

Is my Faberge egg genuine?

Hello folks, I recently bought a "Faberge style" egg from the Tony Curtis estate auction. I know that the chances of it being genuine are low, but I will welcome your opinions on the hallmarks. I'm sorry for the bad quality of the photos - the marks are so small, I had to photograph them t...

Thanks. The other half of the case has the same initials and a Kokoshnik mark.

Can anyone identify these marks? MC + ***ORDONSCH?

Hello folks, Here is a silver cigarette case with a clear M.C maker's mark plus another which I cannot read. My Russian is very basic, but the final 5 letters seem to say ORDONSCH ? Is the MC mark for Maria Semenyova? My reference book shows several MC marks, but none has a dot between the letters. ...

Do you think this Ovchinnikov mark is genuine?

This set of marks looks suitably old and worn to me - but I have little experience of Ovchinnikov. What do the experts think?

Thanks for your helpful replies. The item sold at auction for 3 times the pre-sale estimate, so someone clearly liked it.

Can anyone identify these marks - STNIKOVA?

I have the chance to buy this cigarette case, which has a 3-letter maker's mark. But I'm not sure which way up it should be - is it JbH or maybe NRG? There is also a name in Cyrillic capital letters, which I think would be STNIKOVA in western script. I tried Googling this, but most results are in Ru...

Re: Faberge Spoon Hallmarks

Hi manper86, I'm new to this forum, but I've taken plenty of close photos for eBay purposes. I suggest you use a good quality digital camera with a Macro (close focusing) facility. That should allow you to focus at a distance of around 2-3 inches. Most cameras also allow you to set the image resolut...

Re: Can you identify a BB maker's mark please?

To Dad - Yes, you are correct. Now I know where to look, I see that on each section of the bracelet, one of the 4 eyelets has a small flat area. They all contain part of a tiny Kokoshnik hallmark. Most of them are very unclear, so previously I thought these were just small variations in the metal. O...

Re: Can you identify a BB maker's mark please?

Thank you. Here are some better photos. Each piece of the bracelet has the BB mark and no other : only the clasp has the St Petersburg mark. I hope you can see the notch in the bottom edge of the cartouche. Two small charms were sold with the bracelet. The egg is also marked 84 and BB - the two Bs a...

Re: Can you identify a BB maker's mark please?

Thanks for your replies, but the hallmark is definitely two identical Bs with complete loops when I use a magnifying glass, and NOT a Cyrillic B with a "broken loop". So I am sure it is BB (vey vey) and not VB (vey beh) .

I'm sorry, my keyboard does not type Russian letters

Can you identify a BB maker's mark please?

Hello, this is my first posting. Can anyone please identify the Russian maker's mark "BB" - I can't find it on any of the silver hallmark websites. I recently bought this bracelet at an auction. The seller claimed that it was brought out of revolutionary Russia by a salesman. The clasp is ...
